This time of the year is always a busy one for us at the York Jam Company. Our kumquats have been harvested and turned into our famous kumquat marmalade; lots of work removing zillions of pips and finely chopping the rind, but well worth the effort.
Right now we are working our way through large quantities of beautiful strawberries sourced from Berry Sweet Strawberry Farm in Bullsbrook. The majority end up in our strawberry jam. Some are snap-frozen to be used later in our York Ice Cream Company strawberry ice cream. Of course the fruit gets regularly sampled for quality-control purposes!

Next month our apricots will be ripe, so it’ll be time for apricot jam …
