Olive Season, 2016

Mary the Ice Cream Monster would like to take a short break from devouring all our stocks of York Ice Cream (Nutella flavour in particular) to tell all olive growers that our press will be starting up after Easter to press the new season’s olive oil. We have started taking bookings from Wednesday 30 March onwards. As usual, you can either drop-off your olives and pick up your oil later or we can press them while you wait, in which case a booking is essential. Contact us to make a booking; (email is preferred as we can’t always get to the phone).

Mary Caught in the Act

And on the subject of York Ice Cream, we have just received the results of the DIAA (Dairy Association of Australia) WA Dairy Product Competition 2016. We entered seven flavours; six of them won silver medals and our Jarrah Honey Ice Cream won the gold medal! This is great news, especially following the Champion Ice Cream award at the 2015 Perth Royal Dairy Show. We must be doing something right! Actually, we know exactly what we are doing right, and it starts with the finest and freshest ingredients.

WeekendNotes.com – Things to Do With the Kids

The long summer holidays stretch ever-onwards, so with impeccable timing appear two fine articles on the Weekend Notes website.
The first, Sightseeing with Kids – York Area gives some great ideas on things to go and see and do during what’s left of the school holidays (or at any other time). Click here to go to the link or paste this address into your browser: http://www.weekendnotes.com/sightseeing-with-kids-york-area-perth/
The second article is all about us, the York Ice Cream Co., (in the same place as the York Olive Oil Co; we are both). A lovely (unsolicited!) article for which we didn’t bribe the author. Honest! Click here to read the article or use this address in your browser: http://www.weekendnotes.com/york-ice-cream-co/

Thanks Rhiannon. Great photos and I reckon we owe you an ice cream each!

The Colour of Magic

For all of our products we insist on using only the BEST ingredients. Not the best available at the time. Our stocks of 2014 strawberry jam ran out months ago, and although strawberries have been available for quite a while this year, only now are they at optimum ripeness. Perfect flavour, sweetness and colour.

York Jam Company Strawberry Jam

The Colour of Magic

Just look at that colour! And because the fruit is full of natural sweetness we only need to use the minimum amount of added sugar to make the jam. Strawberries, sugar, lemon juice and a traditional French method to preserve the natural texture, colour and flavour of the fruit.
$10 for a 320g jar and available from our factory shop or by post.
And a note to our apricot fans; watch this space for the new season’s apricot jam, made solely from our own-grown apricots which will be ripe soon.
