Flying Fox or Zipline?

Whatever you choose to call it, we have the longest one in York! (Quite possibly the ONLY one, come to think of it). It’s 50m long but close to the ground so it’s loads of fun for kids from 7 to 77 years old. Come along and try it out and while you are here enjoy one of our Gold Medal winning ice creams, (Champion Ice Cream at the Perth Royal Show 2015).

Perth Royal Show Champion Ice Cream!

This year’s Perth Royal Show is coming up soon and the results of the various competitions are being announced. The big news (for us, at least) is in the Perth Royal Dairy Show; we entered thirteen different ice creams and all thirteen won medals. And the biggest news of all, our Jarrah Honey Ice Cream won a Gold Medal and was awarded the trophy for Best in Show Champion Ice Cream. We are really chuffed that the care and attention we put into crafting our ice creams has been identified and awarded by the judges. No need to go to the Royal Show to try our ice cream; it’s available from our factory shop all year round.

Meanwhile, in this year’s Perth Royal Olives Show our Extra Virgin and Lemon Infused olive oils both won medals. In addition, oils produced at our press for other growers won a haul of eleven medals including four Silver and a Gold. So congratulations to all the medal winners including Renny & Fee Lee-Steere (Hawthornden), John & Kay Leevers (Hampton Estate), Don & Moira McKinley (Moore Park), Nick Tolcon and, not least, the Gold Medal winners, Pat & Lin Turner of Woondowing Creek. If you are in Australia looking for Extra Virgin Olive Oil always remember that a fresh oil made in Australia will always beat any cheap import lurking on the supermarket shelf.

Everlastings and Pain au Chocolat

Spring is in the air and the Everlastings are in full flower at the York Olive Oil Co. Meanwhile Arnaud has been busy with his real bread recipes and is now offering (along with the traditional sourdough), olive bread and his new chocolate bread (“Pain au Chocolat”) made with dark French chocolate. With no added sugar or cocoa powder it is savoury rather than sweet.
Not sweet, but addictive!
Bread production from our wood-fired oven is cranking up an extra 50% this weekend so hopefully now there will be enough to meet the demand. As usual, the weekend bake will happen on Saturday morning (first batch out of the oven at about 10:30am). If you’d like to order some bread but can’t make it here on Saturday please let us know and we’ll reserve some for you.

Meanwhile our ice cream entries to the Perth Royal Show dairy competition are being delivered to the Claremont Showgrounds tomorrow. Hoping for seven years of medals in a row; wish us luck!
