September is Everlasting Time!

The first few Everlastings (Paper Daisies) are starting to flower and in a week or two they will be in full bloom. The display of pink and white will last until the hot weather starts. September is the best time to see them, the fields of yellow canola and the Spring wildflowers in the magical wandoo forests. Time to explore the Wheatbelt, visit York, take some photos and enjoy an award-winning ice cream.

Our friend Jamie took this video of last year’s display (in September 2018). Thanks Jamie!

Playing with Fire

Saturday 13 April 2019

This what the Mad French Baker is up to whilst most of the population is safely tucked under the doona.
Bringing the woodfired oven to 380C to saturate the masonry with enough heat for two baking sessions.
Around 2 AM the remaining coals are raked out and the baking floor cleaned with a moist mop.
A few hours later the temperature will have stabilised around 290C and the oven ready for the first batch.
The first loaves will come out around 8.15 AM, the second lot around 9.30 AM.
Baking real sourdough bread every Saturday.
Don`t miss out, reserve your loaves before heading for York this week end!

New water feature in our playground

Whilst the olives are ripening, we applied ourselves to building a new water feature using old machinery and old bits and pieces laying around. Not your average boring playground equipment! Kids will love it whilst grownups will “get” the subtle messages built into the structure. Check it out!
